Caro Williams-Pierce is an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland, College Park, in the College of Information Studies (otherwise known as the iSchool).  Her lifelong love of mathematics and video games has caused her to investigate mathematics learning in video games, with a particular focus on backgrounding formal mathematical notation in order to support authentic mathematical play.  She earned a PhD in Mathematics Education and a joint masters in Mathematics and Mathematics Education from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and her bachelors degree in Mathematics from the University of Maine at Fort Kent.

Although I adore my academic life, I also greatly enjoy the non-academic aspects of my life - particularly cooking, reading fantasy/sci-fi, making things with my hands, and chilling with my spouse Jordan and our far-flung family.
